Slacktivism

It seems that some people just can’t let go. Here it is, 20 January 2005. We are inaugurating our President. Our duly-elected President. Protests are being planned throughout the country. Here in the Twin Cities, frantic activity by our local Liberals could be observed as early as 6 a.m. today.

Driving to work, I take I 35W North to Arden Hills because I drop my wife off at her place of employment in Minneapolis. The overpasses on the way were festooned with such well thought-out tidbits like “Bush Lies, Soldiers Die”.

Watch out, Hallmark. You’ve got competition.

Here’s a novel idea. Let’s get over it. Time to move on. What is there to protest?

“He’s not MY President!” Actually, he is. As a citizen of the US, he is your president. Learn how to deal.

I didn’t vote for him!” So? See above.

And my favorite little tidbit of the day. This one is from John Kerry (via Capmag.com):

[…]

"Don't tell us that the strongest democracy on earth," said Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry in a recent speech for the NAACP, "that a million disenfranchised African-Americans and the most tainted election in American history is the best that we can do. Don't tell us that we already see the purging taking place down in Florida. Don't tell us we don't have a right to expect an election in the United States that sets an example of democracy to the world. We can do better, and we will." A million disenfranchised African-Americans?

I love this country. Where else can you get anything you want (within reason), are free from religious, ethnic, and political persecution, aren’t hauled out of your bed in the middle of the night by the secret police and made to disappear….

And you still bitch about what a horrible place this is.

Don’t like it? Move to North Korea.
